MUSC Longford @ Old Trafford 24/25 Vol2
Manchester United v Nottingham Forest
On Friday 6th December 2024 our Supporters Club made the journey across the Irish Sea to catch our beloved Reds in action, 41 members travelled to take in the new manager's third home game in charge and to see the new formation and tactics employed by Mr. Amorim firsthand. It was MUSC Longford's second trip of the season, one which would turn into an eventful return journey for this group of travelling members..
..It was the usual meet and greet Friday morning in the early hours on Ballymahon Street, there was talk of a storm coming in and fingers were crossed that the trip could be made..
..It was relatively smooth sailing from Dublin to Holyhead with the only snag a Welsh farmers protest greeting members at the port. While this may have slowed the club down from reaching our destination of Bury it didn't dampen the mood as people got themselves ready for a night on the tiles/cobbles..
..Match Day arrived and there may have been a few tired heads but it didn't take long for tiredness to fade on the bus journey from the hotel to The Theatre Of Dreams..
..Unfortunately the result this time didn't go our way but each and every travelling member still enjoyed the day, the atmosphere, the experience and of course the views from their seats!

News reports during the day were circulating that Holyhead had suffered structural damage to the port and this was confirmed when Nicola got word that Irish Ferries wanted to transfer the club to a different route/crossing that would add agonising hours onto the trip back home.
Nicola and Kevin worked tirelessly through the night and the next day to make sure all would make it back home safe and sound. Fair play to them for not accepting the transfer offered as they managed to secure an alternative route, one which meant less travelling time and more importantly getting home in members own beds earlier.
It wasn't just the ferry companies Nicola and Kevin needed to negotiate with, the hotel needed to be sounded out about firstly a later checkout time and also the possibility of 20+ rooms for an extra nights stay if required.
It's a real testament to the Supporters Club that we have Nicola and Kevin, because they wont settle until every travelling member on every trip is looked after!
